Jennie appears on BBC One’s Make It At Market
This December see print designer Jennifer Fynn on series 2 of the popular BBC One programme ‘Make It At Market’ .
In the series artists, designers and makers are given the opportunity to work with creative mentors to create successful and sustainable businesses.
How it began
In March this year I spotted an advert in a Facebook group asking for artists and makers to take part in the second series of the show. I had watched the first series and loved it and thought why not apply but I didn’t really think that as a self-taught artist I would be chosen. I actually forgot all about it until I received a call from the producers in May. Over the next few weeks I was auditioned over the telephone and on Zoom and in June was given the news that I had been chosen to appear in series 2. Honestly I couldn’t believe it but I knew that it was going to be an exciting opportunity to learn new skills to move my business forward.
Filming
So in July I went to the beautiful Waterperry Gardens in Oxfordshire, where I had to undertake three challenges and received advice from my expert mentor, Piyush Suri from Handmade In Britain and presenter Dom Chinea from The Repair Shop. I then had to go away and work on developing my business for the next eight weeks. My mentor gave me lots of design and business advice which has been invaluable, and he pushed me outside of my comfort zone for the interests of my business. So, I’m very grateful.
